The objectives of this quantitative research were
to investigate 1) the satisfaction of tourists
towards the service of Donwai floating market, 2) the problems in providing
service to tourists in the market, and 3) the approaches to increase efficiency
in tourist service of the market. The
research population was 364 tourists in Donwai floating market, Nakhornpathom
Province. The tool used to collect data was a questionnaire. The results showed
that 1) tourists were satisfied with the service of Donwai floating market at a
moderate level. When considering each aspect, it was found that location had a
high average in the first order, followed by expenses, service of product
distributors and service providers respectively; 2) the problems of providing tourists service included that the
walkways inside the Donwai Floating Market were rather narrow, and there was
not a tourist information center providing service on information or complaints
at Don Wai Floating Market; and 3) the approaches to increase efficiency for
tourist service at the market included that relevant government agencies should
put up signs showing direction and distance to other tourist attractions,
warning signs for curve or slope ways in Thai and English, add more and enough
restrooms which were convenient, safe, and accessible to the elderly and
handicapped according to the number of tourists. The market committee should
have measures to take care of restaurant hygiene and should add homestay
accommodation operators for overnight-stay tourists.
